I Weigh 10 Pounds

I absolutely hate telling anyone my weight.  It is painful and frankly, none of anyone's business.  It is just a number that fluctuates all day long, like my mood.  Sure a big number isn't healthy and a small number isn't either.  It is nice as a baseline, but it does not measure healthiness. I am also tall, so my number is totally pointless compared to a shorter family member or famous person.  To strive for an unattainable number is ridiculous. I know a range that I feel the most comfortable and fit into most of my clothes, that is what I strive for.  Sure I have an ultimate goal weight, but do I really know if I would be happy at that weight?  Nope. So here I am today, starting to get rid of some bloat and a few extra pounds, so I can feel comfortable in my clothes again and not feel like a bloated life preserver. I have a 10lb goal, which at least 5 of that is water weight. So when I get up in the morning to weigh myself to find a starting point, I will weigh 10lbs.  Whatever number the scale shows, it will be 10lbs.  As I move along, my goal will to be zero pounds.  So I will refer to any weight-loss in those parameters. As long as I stay at 10lbs and don't go above that, I will be fine.  If I were to creep up to 11 or 12, you might need to send help.
Anyone else, just read: blah blah blah blah?  That is what all this weight loss crap sounds like in my head.  I have spent the majority of my life worrying about losing weight.  I am tired.  But I will soldier on.  I guess if I were ever just give up, I could hit the unhealthy range and shorten my life.  I guess you could say my weight is an issue for me, to maybe keep me in check. If I were one of those people that could eat whatever I wanted and be skinny, I would be in big trouble. So maybe it is a blessing that my body hates me?  Sure, that is what I am going with.
So one month to Thanksgiving and I weigh 10lbs.  I will try to get weekly weights.  I think I will just update this post, so you will have to come to the blog and check it out.  Sorry email subscribers!

WEEK 1 UPDATE!
Well, thanks to a visitor and a grocery bag full of candy, this lady is 12lbs.  So I gained 2lbs and hope for a better number next week.  Stay tuned!

WEEK 2 UPDATE!
I now weigh 7lbs.  That is how much my body sucks.  I can lose and gain 5 lbs in one day!  While I am happy that the scale is going down, I am not too optimistic of this being permanent weight loss.  Probably just water weight fluctuating back and forth.   I hope to be around 4 or 5 next week, so see you then! If I can keep this pace up, I just might make my goal. *Fingers crossed!

WEEK 3 UPDATE!
I managed to squeak another pound off.  So I am 6lbs.  Doubt I will lose 6lbs in a week, but you never know. I will weigh on Thursday morning before I stuff myself silly. Whatever weight is left of this challenge plus another 5-7lbs will be my goal for Christmas.  I will just keep rolling the numbers until there aren't any numbers to roll. I'm pretty sure I have never actual met a weight/time goal in my life, so I would like to accomplish one.

FINAL UPDATE!
I managed to lose 6lbs of the 10 before Thanksgiving and I probable managed to gain that and then some back yesterday. :) I have been mindlessly munching on gluten free, dairy free, chocolate chip cookies.  Of course they came in a 4lb tub at costco, so they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.  I am going to make another 10b goal for Christmas time.  We have a busy time coming up, Anniversary, birthdays, Christmas, all perfect eating holidays.

October Star Student

Here he is!

Wyatt received his award on Friday and it was awesome to be there to celebrate with him.  We found out how popular our boys are.  Wyatt has caught the attention of one of the identical twins in the other Kindergarten class. She kept calling his name across the room and giving him a thumbs up.  Then when he was called up to get his award, she kept waving and giving him a thumbs up.  While it was cute as heck, it totally melted my mommy heart.  They are only in Kindergarten and they make the girls swoon.  There is another girl in his class named Millie and she told Wyatt he was cute.  I absolutely love the innocence that comes from his stories of the events, "Mom, Millie said I was cute." As he scrunched his nose.  "Mom, that girl follows me around at recess."  Trevor has a 4th grader after him as well.  *sigh  I guess God is preparing me slowly for what is to come.
It was so fun to watch them in their class.  All the kids flocked to them and when we brought Wyatt back to class to get his backpack and pick up Trevor, they all lit up and ran up to him.  "Hi, Wyatt!"  He was only gone for 5 minutes!  And as we left we had to go through all 25 kids and tell them bye.  It shocks me, I guess, because I was so shy in school.  The boys walk around the halls, waving at everyone, calling them by name.  I felt like I was in a movie about popular kids.  I honestly don't know where they got it from. Russ and I are both shy by nature.  Aurora is painfully shy as well, though she has blossomed more this year with a new teacher.  I hope they have that confidence and friendliness forever.
Wyatt has grown so much over the last year and has surprised Russ and I.  We decided to hold them back a year to let them mature, but I think we watered them and gave them too much sunshine!  Their teacher said they are reading at least a first grade level and she thinks we should consider putting them in 2nd grade next year, skipping 1st and putting them back on track.  I am not too sure.  One of the main reasons we did what we did was to give them confidence in school and make sure they weren't 17 when they graduated.  Giving them an extra year to figure life out.  So putting them in the 2nd grade would defeat the whole purpose of our plan. A plan, that is definitely working, I might add.
I am super proud of Wyatt and his accomplishments already this school year.  He is such a wonderful little man with the biggest heart.  He is always the first to hug me or tell me that I am beautiful.  He is such a sweetheart, which is another reason we need to watch him with girls! :)  Wyatt is a good friend to all, an awesome brother and when he wants to be is probably our best behaved kid.  Yup, I totally said it.  Way to go, Wyatt!  Mommy and Daddy are super proud of you and are honored to be your parents and watch you grow into an awesome young man.  Your future is bright, so you better wear shades! :)

Sharp Shooter

Bang! I finally got to shoot Russ' guns!  This frumpy housewife ain't nothing to mess with apparently!  I have shot a pellet gun, twice my entire life.  Even those two shots were dead center on a pop can. :) For my first time I wasn't expecting much. I just wanted to get the initial shooting out of the way, to calm my anxiety. Even being a bit shaky, I was able to hit my target. Zombies need to beware! Now I am kinda addicted and want to do it again real soon.
Thanks to Russ and James for letting me tag along.  Though they probably should be thanking me for putting up with them. :)  I honestly love seeing their cousin relationship and the memories they share.  It always makes me happy and so thankful that Russ and I grew up extremely close with our cousins.
Unfortunately that is only 1 item off of my "Just Do It" list for 2014, so I am going to have to hustle. If you have no clue what I am talking about, here it is: http://jonesfamily123456.blogspot.com/2014/01/just-do-it-2014.html
I feel pretty pathetic that I haven't been able to go play a simple round of frolf or kick a field goal yet. Of course I wait until the crappiest weather to get moving.   I guess I can always use the same list for next year.  I will try my best.

10 Pound Challenge

The days are shorter and the weather is gross, of course that means you eat and eat and eat. On average most people gain 10lbs during the last few months of the year.  So I am challenging myself to lose 10 lbs before I gain 10 lbs. :)  Right before the Thanksgiving feast, which isn't much of a feast when you are gluten free, but still.  This year the Seahawks are playing the 49ers on Thanksgiving, so the stress level is raised to severe. I will be eating my weight in gluten free desserts. So I am going to try and drop some weight before then, so when January rolls around I am not 20lbs in the hole.
It is super hard for me to lose weight, considering I am always in stress mode and I know you have all heard of cortisol.  I have to work extra heard to lose even a few lbs, so to lose 10 by Thanksgiving will prove to be almost impossible.   But I will try and I will get up early most mornings and do a walking DVD, even though my bed is warm and cozy and it is still dark out.
I have come along way in healing myself.  I have not had a full blown panic attack in a looong time (knock on wood). I still have anxiety, and always will.  I have accepted it and have decided to make it part of me. I have learned to say no. Not only to say no, but to not have feelings of guilt for saying no. I feel happier, most of the time.  I still battle with feelings of depression and worthlessness, but it has greatly improved. I haven't had my annual woman's appointment yet, but I feel like I have made great strides in that area as well.
I am going to start really getting at it on Sunday, cause I am still recovering from the flu. Russ brought it home. Yup, the stupid flu, but guess what?  I used all natural things to help me through and it was amazing.  Garlic, elderberry, tea, colloidal silver, vitamin c and d and a few advil. It wasn't as severe and I let my immune system do all the work.  So now that I am rested up it is time to let all my energy out!  I will keep you posted!

A Favor

Could you please do me a favor and send me an email or facebook message if you have subscribed to the blog?  It has been over 4 months and the email function is still not working.  Not sure what went wrong.  I don't know if everyone that was on the list is getting the newest posts, because it won't tell me who or how many have subscribed. :(  It is driving me crazy!!

Hard Work Pays Off

Holy moly, has it really been 4 months since I have blogged!?  It's not that I haven't had much to say, it's just that I haven't had any motivation to write. Last week I received a message from Wyatt's teacher that was super exciting.  Wyatt, as some of you may know, is our very spirited child.  He is stubborn (but Landon wins most stubborn) and he takes a bit more motivation to get going. When we homeschooled last year, I was concerned that he wouldn't be ready for school and that he may find it difficult to sit still and learn.  So we worked really hard and it paid off!!  Wyatt is Student of the Month for October in his class for responsibility and respect!  His teacher said he has been awesome and she loves having both the boys in the class.  That is music to this Mommy's ears. It really validated all the hard work that I have put in and the choices I made concerning their schooling.  Aurora has received the honor each year at her school and I guess I just expect it from her, I know I shouldn't, but I do.  So I feel a bit bad that I am making such a bigger deal out of Wyatt getting the honor this month.  I am just super excited that he is being honored for his hard work and yes, it feels like it is an award for me too. :)  Trevor is having a bit of a hard time with jealousy over it, but I am certain his time will come soon. I am super proud of my boys!  Wyatt will get his award on Friday, so stand by for pictures!  It has been a tough road and it is far from over!  I am choosing to celebrate the heck out of this victory this week and not focus on what is to come in the future. So indulge me my victory and help Wyatt celebrate!!

Wedding 2014

Aurora's artwork.

Yummm!

The great chocolate fountain mishap.  Chocolate finger prints all over my dress.

Getting down!

Cousins!

Russ has become quite the expert photo-bomber. :)

I didn't even know he was there!

blurry. Boo! :(

Time to go home. :)

Well, we survived the wedding!  I realize I stink at photography and I pretty much ruined all the professional ones because I forgot to spit out my gum.  Bummer. :(  Oh well.  The wedding was a blast and I am so happy for my little cousin.  Now it is time to recover financially and physically.

Broken

I see I am not the only one that the Lord has put divorce on their mind.  Casting Crowns just released this song:

The key to finding everlasting love is to pick the perfect one in the beginning.  Everyone sucks, everyone will disappoint you, but your soul mate will complete you, won't leave when the going gets tough and become an extension of you.  Just like the bible says, you will become one flesh. I have been spending a lot of time with Mark 10.  These are the very words of Jesus, he is absolutely clear that marriage is forever.  If 2 Christians vow before God to become one flesh, then that is that.  There are no take backsies or do-overs.  That is why it is of most importance that you do it right the first time.  My interpretation of Mark is that once you marry, and if you get a divorce for any reason other than an affair, you are not to remarry.  The people of the world will remarry until the end of time, but Christians are held to a higher standard.
I am not completely sure why this is weighing so heavily on my heart.  I don't personally know anyone going through a divorce.  It's probably all of this wedding stuff. Maybe God is preparing my heart? Maybe 15-20 years from now my kids will stumble across these posts and it will bless them? All I know is that He put this on my heart and I am doing what I know to do.
I pray for all those going through hurt and pain in their marriage, there is hope, God can preform miracles!  I also pray for those searching for the rest of their "flesh."  Be still and know that the Lord is working in your life.  In His time, not yours. Never settle!

Mark 10 from the 1599 Geneva Bible
1 And he [a]arose from thence, and went into the coasts of Judea by the far side of Jordan, and the people resorted unto him again, and as he was wont, he taught them again.
2 Then the Pharisees came and asked him, if it were lawful for a man to put away his wife, and tempted him.
3 And he answered, and said unto them, What did Moses command you?
4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.
5 [b]Then Jesus answered, and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote this [c]precept unto you.
6 But at the beginning of the creation God made them male and female:
7 For this cause shall man leave his father and mother, and cleave unto his wife.
8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so that they are no more twain, but one flesh.
9 Therefore, what God hath coupled together, let not man separate.
10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of that matter.
11 And he said unto them, whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another, commiteth adultery [d]against her.
12 And if a woman put away her husband, and be married to another, she commiteth adultery.
13 [e]Then they brought little children to him, that he should touch them, and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, he was displeased, and said to them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God [f]as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
16 And he took them up in his arms, and put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
17 [g]And when he was gone out on the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do, that I may possess eternal life?
18 Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, even God.
19 Thou knowest the commandments, Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not bear false witness. Thou shalt [h]hurt no man. Honor thy father and mother.
20 Then he answered, and said to him, Master, all these things have I observed from my youth.
21 And Jesus looked upon him, and loved him, and said unto him, One thing is lacking unto thee. Go and sell all that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come, follow me, and take up the cross.
22 But he was sad at that saying, and went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 And Jesus looked round about, and said unto his disciples, How hardly do they that have riches, enter into the kingdom of God!
24 And his disciples were afraid at his words. But Jesus answered again, and said unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches, to enter into the kingdom of God!
25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
26 And they were much more astonied, saying with themselves, Who then can be saved?
27 But Jesus looked upon them, and said, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
28 [i]Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have forsaken all, and have followed thee.
29 Jesus answered, and said, Verily I say unto you, there is no man that hath forsaken house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my sake and the Gospels,
30 But he shall receive an [j]hundredfold, now at this present, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands [k]with persecutions, and in the world to come, eternal life.
31 But many that are first, shall be last, and the last, first.
32 [l]And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus went before them, and they were troubled, and as they followed, they were afraid, and Jesus took the twelve again, and began to tell them what things should come unto him,
33 Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the high Priests, and to the Scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles.
34 And they shall mock him, and scourge him, and spit upon him, and kill him: but the third day he shall rise again.
35 [m]Then James and John the sons of Zebedee came unto him, saying, Master, [n]we would that thou shouldest do for us that we desire.
36 And he said unto them, What would ye I should do for you?
37 And they said to him, Grant unto us, that we may sit, one at thy right hand, and the other at thy left hand in thy glory.
38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask. Can ye drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and be baptized with the baptism that I shall be baptized with?
39 And they said unto him, We can. But Jesus said unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of the cup that I shall drink of, and be baptized with the baptism wherewith I shall be baptized:
40 But to sit at my right hand and at my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
41 And when the ten heard that, they began to disdain at James and John.
42 [o]But Jesus called them unto him, and said to them, Ye know that [p]they which are princes among the Gentiles, have domination over them, and they that be great among them, exercise authority over them.
43 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your servant.
44 And whosoever will be chief of you, shall be the servant of all.
45 For even the Son of man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life for the ransom of many.
46 [q]Then they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples, and a great multitude, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, a blind man, sat by the wayside, begging.
47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry, and to say, Jesus the Son of David, have mercy on me.
48 And many rebuked him, because he should hold his peace: but he cried much more, O Son of David, have mercy on me.
49 Then Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called: and they called the blind, saying unto him, Be of good comfort: arise, he calleth thee.
50 So he threw away his cloak, and rose, and came to Jesus.
51 And Jesus answered, and said unto him, What wilt thou that I do unto thee? And the blind said unto him, Lord, that I may receive sight.
52 Then Jesus said unto him, Go thy way: thy faith hath saved thee. And by and by he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

If you dare! :)  For some reason the email function for my blog is not working.  It usually emails any new blog posts. So now if you want to still get emails, enter you email in the box on top and subscribe.  You will only get an email once a day, if I write anything.  So no worries about your email being flooded.

The Big D

and I don't mean Dallas. Today I am fasting to release negative emotions and get a fresh start and God is tugging on my arm and telling me that I need to write a post about divorce.  No, not my divorce.  Russ and I are hanging in there. :)  I have been thinking a lot about divorce lately, thanks to Tori Spelling's new show, True Tori.  It is raw, heart wrenching, poignant and it strikes me to my core.  Yeah, yeah, it is a reality show and maybe a little scripted?  Who cares, it serves its purpose.  They are struggling with real problems, real emotions and I sit glued to every minute.  Tori has also been blasted in the tabloids for sticking with Dean, even though he cheated.  Not only did he cheat, he is an alcoholic, drug addict and tried to commit suicide.  Yup, I would say that is pretty bad.  Why not just leave him?  Why not kick him to the curb?  Because she loves him and they have 4 beautiful children together?  Even though he broke his vows, she wants to follow through with hers.  Whatever happens with those two, I commend them for at least trying.  After my emotions were all stirred up from the show last night, I came across this facebook post, which made me think more about divorce, specifically Christian divorce.  We will call this person ST.

"Trying to be as compassionate as I can without hurting or offending anyone but speaking the truth. The new trend seems to be divorce because "God would want me to be happy" I was thinking and discussing this today and came to this conclusion. Never in the bible does God talk about your happiness being important. He says "find your joy in The Lord" So many people are leaving marriages these days because they are not happy. They're being mentally abused, they fell out of love, their husbands aren't cherishing them, their wives are crazy, we're incompatible. But let me ask you this, was Jesus happy dying a brutal death for us? Was Moses happy about leading his people through the wilderness? Was Noah happy building an arc while everyone talked about how crazy he was and mocked him and his family? Was Paul super happy while being prisoner for serving God? Was Daniel filled with happiness in the lions den? No!!!! If they quit on their commitment to God because "God would never want them to be unhappy" We wouldn't have a savior who died on the cross! Our sins would never be forgiven! God calls us to find our Joy in Him... In the struggle, in the pain, in the terrible low black times. He doesn't instruct us to flee! If you are thinking about quitting in your marriage because "you just aren't happy and God would want you to be happy" I beg you to think again! God's word gives us only ONE reason to divorce and that's adultery. No matter how unhappy you are... Sometimes he calls us to go through hard times so he can build us up! Pray for strength, pray for wisdom and understanding, pray for a softening of your heart towards your spouse, believe God can renew your marriage! Don't quit! Change something within YOURSELF, ask God to fix YOU! Believe your commitment to God to love your spouse, is a promise worth keeping to our savior who keeps all His promises to us!"

WOW! Of course there were the people that took offense to this, cause you automatically go into defense mode when you feel personally attacked.  This is specifically about Christian divorce, worldly divorce not included.  But when Christians divorce we are joining the world.  We have made it second nature, but we are called to be better, to seek the Lord for answers.  It is a million times worse when a Christian divorces, because they made their vows not only to the person they married, but to the Lord himself.  You aren't going to  be happy all the time, you weren't put here to live a perfect life.  I will go as far as to say you were put here to suffer, to desire a Heaven, to desire a Father in Heaven.  If life was peaches and cream, would we need a Savior???  Life is going to suck, we are to find peace in the Lord.  Walking out of a marriage, not fighting for a marriage is not what we are called to do.  You fell in love with this person and made a commitment to them.  It's going to be bumpy and there will be some days when you wake up and wish they would just go away, that is when you are to cling to the Lord.  He can change hearts.
I am guilty of passing judgment on a lady that chose to not seek divorce from her husband even though he was addicted to porn and walked out on her.  He was out doing God knows what and she was at home taking care of his 5 kids.  God restored their marriage and then it happened again and she is waiting, praying and hoping for her God to move.  I now realize that is what God wants us to do.  If we keep marrying people looking for happiness, we will never find it.  It doesn't matter how perfect this person is, how committed to the Lord they are, unhappiness will come and you need to learn how to ride it out and not flee.
So you just got a divorce?  Should you remarry? I have heard many arguments for and against this.  I am not a biblical scholar, but death do us part seems to answer it for me. I also know that Jesus thought it was important enough to talk about it.  Now with all this said, I am in no way implying that you will go to hell for divorcing.  All I know is that we are not to be part of this world and hopping from one spouse to another is disrespectful and dangerous. The judgment around you will be nothing to that of the Lord.
I don't have the answers, life is tough, life is rough, sometimes life just plain sucks. It is full of weeds that need to be plucked.  I do know that it is never too late to correct a mistake.  It is never too late to go back to your spouse, it is never too late to fight for your marriage.  God can change hearts.  With God all things are possible.  Everyone is on their own journey and just remember that life is about choices.  The choices you make will make or break you.  Going down the rough patch with sticker bushes will hurt you, scratch you, there will be pain, but the reward at the end is worth it.  The path filled with sunshine and rainbows looks nice and inviting, but only darkness waits for you at the end.
I'm not sure if I accomplished much with this post, but I feel free from the tugging of my heart.  I hope someone out there can benefit from it.

**Since this blog is for my children and they will probably never listen to me when it is important I am going to add this paragraph in hopes that they will read it when they are searching for the one to spend their life with.
I know you guys will probably have heard these a million times by now, but it is very important that you find your forever spouse and do it in as little stepping stone relationships as possible. When choosing a spouse, it is best to find one with the least baggage and it is also important to enter relationships without baggage of your own. I know it is easy for me to say this, but it is the truth.  Baggage will always come back and smack you in the face.  If you have to hide or lie about your relationship, then it is wrong and you need to end it.  Always listen to the people around you, they are thinking more clear headed than you.  I know you don't want to hear it, but sometimes talking out others objections can resolve a lot.  Keep your friends and especially your family involved in the relationship.  Go on double dates with your Mom and Dad.  And tell your significant others that Mom loves dark chocolate, and not fruit filled. :)  .  As you get to know this person, let your mind wander to the future, if you can't see them there in the first few months, end the relationship. If at any time a red flag is raised, don't ignore it.  Know their sexual history, hence the baggage part.  Pregnancy isn't the only thing that can come from having sex. The most important is to find someone that can make you laugh, not just a hehehehe, I am talking a full gasping for air until you feel like you will pass out, your stomach hurts laughter. I could go on forever, but I trust you guys will make me proud with your choices.
